藝術家Julie Richey Mosaics在透過朋友的委託進行的馬賽克鑲嵌的雕塑

運用：大理石、玻璃馬賽克、黃金、礦物及貝殼...等

將海藻、植物的圖騰點綴在硬質的素材中，隨著柔美的曲線產生流動感

這件美的藝術品，靈感來源於貝殼

一個關於美將消逝的故事

說明亞洲綠海帶在墨西哥灣屬於入侵物種

再看不見的時間裡侵襲著海灣

但是人類行為對墨西哥灣造成的影響更為巨大

在做這件作品的時候

正好發生了墨西哥漏油事件

La Corrente, a marble, glass, gold and shell mosaic depicting sea kelp on the theme of man-made and natural destruction of the Gulf, was awarded “Best 3-D Mosaic” at the 2011 Mosaic Arts International Exhibit in Austin, TX.  

當時

墨西哥漏油事件嚴重的影響了當地的生態，熊熊烈焰點亮整個夜空，「深水地平線」鑽油平台，4月在路易斯安納州外海爆炸起火的實況紀錄片，從黑夜燒到白天，經過30幾個小時後鑽油平台沉入海底，景象令人觸目驚心，當地鳥類和海底生態飽受威脅。
